WELCOME TO NOPE OF ORANGE COUNTY

PRESENTATIONS

The cornerstone of NOPE's mission is the personal, high impact presentation delivered to middle and high school students throughout the school year. This presentation drives home a very clear message:

If you are using drugs, tell someone who can help you, if you know someone who is using drugs, tell someone who can help them.

This message is delivered graphically and emotionally from several perspectives. First from Law Enforcement Officials who have the grim task of making death notifications to distraught families; then from a member of the Judicial System who describes the legal consequences of drug abuse; from a Recovering Addict who lived to tell about his or her experience; and finally, from Parents who have suffered the loss of a child to an overdose or drug related incident.

The school presentations achieve an immediate and positive result from the students. The presentation is meant to evoke emotion, and demand the attention of the students. Following virtually every presentation a number of students seek help either for themselves or someone they know. Counselors are available to help and many teachers devote the remainder of the school day for further discussion and follow-up.

NOPE for Parents

Drug prevention is a community issue. Each year new studies indicate the vastness of drug use in our schools. NOPE realizes the importance for Educators and Parents to understand the issues related to drug use in order to learn how to make a difference in their children's lives. - The quote: "It takes an entire village to raise one child"- holds true.

NOPE offers schools and communities parenting presentations designed to inform parents of the issues which children are confronted with today. Issues addressed include: signs of use, availability, how to talk to your kids about drugs, and what actions you can take to prevent drug use and abuse. This inter-active personal high impact presentation describes the reality of the issues our nation is facing with drug abuse amongst our youth and allows parents to ask questions and speak to professionals regarding the issues.
